Skar Audio is happy to offer retail customers who order directly from Skar Audio’s official website free shipping to the continental United States for orders over $50.

Due to factors beyond our control, we have suspended all international shipping and shipping to Alaska and Hawaii on orders made directly via Skar Audio's official website effective 9/20/2020. Our internal team is working diligently to restore this service and create a better experience for our customers who do not reside domestically within the United States. We do not currently have an estimated time that this service will be available to our friends outside of the continental United States, however, we will be happy to announce once we are able to re-establish this service for our customers outside the continental United States.

Additional shipping options may be available via other authorized retailers like Amazon or eBay if purchasing from their platform. Please contact these retailers directly to confirm their policies and options that they might have available to you.

Skar Audio has strategically expanded operations within the US, and can reach most of the United States in 3 business days. We make an effort to ship out orders the same day if the orders are made during business hours. Any orders placed over the weekend or after business hours will ship out the following business day.

Skar Audio does offer expedited shipping options at an additional cost. The options available vary based upon area and can be viewed during the checkout process.

Skar Audio is constantly forecasting to keep product from going out of stock; however, unexpected trends in sales may lead to a shortage of a product. When this happens, Skar Audio will always post the expected return date of the product right on the product’s page. Once the item arrives back in stock, we ship all backorders immediately.

Amplifier FAQs

We recommend having the gain tuned with a multimeter to ensure the correct power output and DD1 or O scope in order to ensure that the amplifier is not outputting any distortion or clipping to the subwoofer(s). We recommend between 80-125hz LPF for most of our subwoofers and a subsonic filter set to 25-35hz while Bass EQ is set to 0dB.

Clipping is a form of waveform distortion that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven and attempts to deliver an output voltage or current beyond its maximum capability.

In a sound wave you will notice that the sides of the clipped signal are vertical. That means that the signal will try to move the subwoofers cone from all the way forward to all the way backwards in zero amount of time, travelling at the speed of infinity. Nothing travels that fast, and the subwoofer will either tear itself apart trying, or the flapping cone wobbles just enough to jam the coil in the magnet's voice coil gap.

Both of the positive terminals connect to one positive terminal on the board within the amplifier and both of the negative terminals connect to one negative terminal on the board within the amplifier. The design function allows for the ability to wire more subwoofers to a single amplifier.

We recommend choosing an amplifier that is able to output the correct RMS rating for the speakers you have. All amplifiers will have a max power, however RMS is going to be the constant power supplied to the speaker.

To take your Skar Audio amplifier out of "protection mode" you will have to complete disconnect all wiring that is going into the unit. This includes the remote wire, RCA's, speaker wire and both the ground and power wire. The unit will have to sit, completely disconnected, for several hours.

Skar Audio amplifiers are not stable below 1 ohm. Please be aware that running your amplifier below 1 ohm is against manufacturer specifications and can result in voiding your warranty.

Skar Audio does not service or repair amplifiers in house at our facility, however we have certified a thirty party vendor by the name of Amp Medics to help facilitate and take care of our customer's repair needs. Amp Medics operates independently of Skar Audio and will quote you for your repair independently as well, so please feel free to reach out to them if you are in need of their services using their contact information below.

Subwoofer FAQs

To begin you will want to make sure that the settings on your radio are flat or at zero. You should never have to use “bass boost” or “loudness” with a properly tuned system so please keep these settings off. You can definitely use the subwoofer level on your radio for fine tuning. You’ll want to get your system tuned to a good sounding level that is loud but with no distortion or popping. Take your time. Listen carefully to the sound being produced by the subwoofer(s). Once you have found your ideal level, drop your settings (gain) to half of that. For instance, if you are at half gain, drop it down to a quarter gain. This is your “break in” setting. You will want to keep these settings for the first 24 to 36 hours of actual play time on the new subwoofer(s). We find that it is usually about a week of regular music listening in a daily driven vehicle. After those initial 24 to 36 hours; you can retune your system back up to the original setting. Your subwoofer(s) is now broken in and ready.

NOTE* this is the absolute simplest explanation of only one method to break in your new Skar Audio subwoofer(s). There are much more involved methods that require specialized tools but, this method is a basic suggestion. Let us know if you have any other questions.

We often receive the question “Which coil configuration is better; Dual 2 ohm or Dual 4 ohm”. In actuality, neither is superior to the other. Simply put, the difference in the coil configuration helps determine the impedance (or resistance) an amplifier will see when the subwoofers are wired to the amplifier. You will want to consider the capabilities of your amplifier and the number of subwoofers you will be connecting per amplifier in choosing which coil configuration will work best for your set up.

Enclosure FAQ

At this time, Skar Audio does not design custom enclosures. This includes making any recommendations on 4th and 6th order bandpass enclosures. We do however have some detailed cut list for generic enclosures that are built to spec for multiple combinations of our subwoofers. We would be happy to assist in sending these free of charge to any customer, however we are not able to make any modifications to them.

It is important when reviewing enclosures for fit with your subwoofer(s) to consider a few basic specifications.

The first is the volume, per subwoofer, of the enclosure. If you enclosure is too small or too large in terms of volume, the performance of your subwoofer can suffer. It is important when assessing volume that you consider any displacement in the enclosure including port, bracing, and subwoofer displacement. These all take away from the gross airspace of the enclosure.

The second is the mounting depth of the enclosure. The subwoofer needs to be able to create a tight seal when being mounted, so if the subwoofer cannot sit flush to the surface when mounted, it will be tough to create a proper seal.

The third specification is the cut out diameter. The cut out diameter is the size of the hole in which the subwoofer will be mounted. If the cut out diameter is too small, the basket of the subwoofer will not allow the sub to sit flush and create a tight seal. If the cut out diameter is to large, the mounting holes may not provide enough room to securely affix to the enclosure.

The final specification applies to ported, or vented, enclosures. Skar Audio provides, as do many manufactures, the recommended tuning frequency of the enclosure. Using a subwoofer in an enclosure that is not properly tuned can decrease the subwoofers ability to perform at its peak based upon the subwoofers specifications.

Skar Audio knows the importance of finding/building a great enclosure to unleash the power of your subwoofer, so we proudly display all our recommendations for our subwoofers and their enclosure specifications on each product’s page. Skar Audio is proud to offer a variety of prefabricated enclosures for those individuals who are looking for an enclosure for their subwoofers.
